Summer 2008

New Leaf Ministries finished up its sixth year of service in June 2008. When I look back on these past years of service, I am amazed at what we have been able to accomplish and how God has used this fledgling ministry to make a difference for the Warren/Jamestown Area. But if we only reflect, we serve no purpose in the future. We believe God has greater plans for us in the future was well.

Three events coming you will want to put on your Calendar. Caring For People God’s Way, a thirty hour training course for lay counselors, will be offered starting on Monday, September 15th beginning at 6:30pm till 8:30pm and running for 15 weeks. The cost is $195.00 for certification and $30.00 to audit. Contact the office if interested: 814-757-8222.

New Leaf has experienced some very challenging months. The “Gas Crunch” that has affected us in many ways has had an impact financially on our ministry as well. Giving to the ministry is way down. It’s understandable that there would be some belt-tightening on the part of many people, but the ministry cannot function without the generosity of people like you who give so that we can provide the counseling, programs and opportunities we provide throughout the year. Also a very important program, New Leaf Opportunity to Counsel Assistance Fund (N-LOC) is now developed whereby we have funds available to offer counseling to those who could not otherwise afford it. This is a wonderful program but we cannot provide this service without sufficient resources in the fund. Any donation made to this fund goes directly into this fund, providing assistance to those in need.

May God richly bless you this day,
J. Mark Hurst
