About Us
NEW LEAF INMATE MINISTRIES
Our goal is to provide solid Bible teaching to the hurting and seeking souls of incarcerated people. We offer them our Bible courses as an old-fashioned correspondence school. Christian Bible Colleges that once offered correspondence courses now only offer “on-line” courses. Incarcerated people have no access to the internet - so courses from these colleges are no longer available to them. But by providing the old-fashioned lessons sent by mail - and study question answer sheet returned by mail - New Leaf Inmate Ministries is once again offering inmates, through solid Biblical education, the hope of getting to know God and His Word. We also send each participating, co-responding, student a very nice New Living Translation Bible, which aids them in taking our courses. One inmate wrote to us several years ago and stated, “It’s the personal aspect of your ministry that sets New Leaf apart from the others.” Our president, Clint Webb, began his college education while in prison by taking correspondence courses from Moody Bible Institute. After coming out of prison he continued those courses and graduated from Moody in 1991. In 1989 he also began taking correspondence courses from The Institute of Biblical Counseling and, while he earned no degree from taking those courses, he did gain a solid education in Biblical counseling. As a staff member of West Lauderdale Baptist Church, and after finishing those courses, he served as Head of Pastoral counseling at that very large Ft. Lauderdale church for several years. New Leaf lets our students know that they may write to us. We answer every letter that comes, whether it be Biblical questions, or deep concerns of the heart. Mr. Webb himself responds to most of the heart wrenching letters we receive, offering love and counseling as only one who has walked a mile in their moccasins can. That is what New Leaf Inmate Ministries is all about.
Firm Foundations
This is our premier course. It is designed to help people understand who God is and how He desires to be in a relationship with us. We believe that too many people don't have the knowledge of the Bible that they need, and are therefore missing a foundation to place their hope in God. God wants us to know Him, to know His character, and that He genuinely cares for us. In Jeremian 9:24 he clearly states that if any man wishes to boast, he should be able to boast in this, "that he knows and understands me."
Firm Foundations teaches the basics of Biblical knowledge and application. John McAuthor has well said that, "knowledge without application is useless."
God is our firm foundation. So we will not be afraid, even if disaster comes and our lives seem destroyed (Psalm 46:1-2)
